Vila Nova de Gaia is a municipality located on the southern bank of the Douro River, opposite the city of Porto, in northern Portugal. The two cities are connected by several bridges, including the iconic Dom Luis I Bridge, which offers stunning views of the river and the historic Ribeira district of Porto.

Gaia is best known for its wine cellars, where Port wine is produced and aged. Another must-see attraction in Vila Nova de Gaia is the Serra do Pilar Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers panoramic views of the Douro River and the city of Porto.
